PAPERLESS update!

In an effort to integrate Science and Technology, students in grades 4 and 5 will have the option to  complete their STEM projects PAPERLESS (with the exception of the research paper) for STEM 2018. These “paperless” STEM projects are to be displayed as PowerPoint presentations.  Instead of being graded on a backboard, students will be expected to  design and present their project overview electronically. The same judging criteria that is used for regular STEM project boards will be followed for paperless projects. In the event that a student’s project is chosen to be entered into the County’s STEM Fair, a standard backboard will need to be constructed  (which would simply mean taking the slide information from the PowerPoint , printing it out, and placing it on  a board). Following is a list of required components that must be included in the final presentation.

*Title Slide (including Project title and student name)
*Question and Hypothesis
*Materials Used
*Procedures
*Variables (independent, dependent, controlled)
*Results (data table and graph)
*Written explanation of results
*Conclusion
*  Incorporation of pictures depicting the progress of the project is suggested.
* Suggested website for graphing support http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/createagraph/

A minimum of 8 slides is required.

Students are  encouraged to be creative  in their designs and delivery of information.

The  project due date  of March 19 th remains the same.  The PowerPoint files can either be saved on a flash drive or sent to individual classroom teachers via e-mail.
